When developing a good philosophy of ministry it is essential to have a highest good, an objective, and goals to reach that objective. To this point I have established that our highest good is to glorify God, and our objective is to glorify God by discipling our world for Jesus. The goals to reach that good are what the current article is about. These goals will describe what must be done in order to glorify God by discipling our world for Jesus.
Goal #1 Glorify God by discipling our world through reaching out to the lost with the gospel and to the saved who are unchurched
Goal #2 Glorify God by discipling our world through worship
Goal #3 Glorify God by discipling our world through Christian fellowship
Goal #4 Glorify God by discipling our world through training believers in knowing and living out the Word
Goal #5 Glorify God by discipling our world through providing opportunities for believers to minister
All of the above can be used as an exclusive guide for a church to determine what should be done. It can also be used to determine what should not be done. If a proposed project or event supports the highest good, objective, and goals of the church then it might be considered as a legitimate activity, on the other hand if the proposed project or event does not then it should be set aside as unprofitable for our purposes.
The next few articles will spell out some of the details of the goals above.
