In case you haven’t heard, we are having an evening of worship on Saturday March 3rd at 6:30pm. This is intended to be an evening where we can spend a bit more time in singing our praise and worship (in the contemporary style) to the Lord than what time typically allows on a Sunday morning. In addition to songs and prayer, Dan Fisher will be sharing a testimony. Many times, we enter a worship service with the intent to be ministered to. Sometimes it feels like our typical Sunday services are so pressed for time that there isn’t room for much more. But this evening is designed to be different. It’s designed to be more flexible. A time for song, prayer, the Word, and communing with our Lord. It’s worship with the sole purpose of glorifying our Lord Jesus!
In our minds we may know many of the scriptures that instruct, encourage, and even command us to give God all our praise, all our thanks, all our worship….all of our everything. Yet, many times we remain calculated. Many times, we enter and pray “God bless me” instead of “God help me to bless you!” I think about the scripture in Luke 7:36-50, the woman with the alabaster jar. I desire to continually learn to be more like the woman giving, blessing Jesus at his feet, than those sitting at the table waiting to receive. I think many of us have that desire. I encourage you to join us the evening of March 3rd as we gather together to give God the praise and honor and glory He is due!
Psalm 30:4 (ESV)
Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints, and give thanks to his holy name.
