Boy Scout Food Drive 2019

The annual Boy Scout Food Drive is coming up on Saturday, November 16.  The Packs and Troops who participate are the main suppliers of the nonperishable and personal care items for our Food Pantry for 2020.  The drive will be held in the fellowship hall from 9 am until 12 noon and many hands will be needed to make the morning flow efficiently.

How does it work?

As the Packs and Troops arrive at different times their items must be weighed since they are in competition with each other for bringing the most items in weight.  After this, each item must be marked according to its expiration date before it may be placed in the pantry.  Next, the items are sorted into crates by categories: ex. fruit, vegetable, soup, etc.  Finally, the crates must be carried to the basement on either side of the pantry for easy access.

Who can help?

All ages are welcome to come and help, there are jobs for every member of the family.  A pizza lunch will be served at 12 noon.  Any time during the morning that can be given would be appreciated as the Food Pantry prepares for another year of providing for those in need.  If your family is not on the Boy Scout pick up route and you would like to contribute something to the drive, canned meats are always needed, ex. tuna, chicken, ham and spam.

Thank-you for your support of this ministry.
