Dear Central Manor Church Member,
The church council is calling a special business meeting of the membership to occur on Sunday July 18th at 12:00pm. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on proposed cosmetic, seating, and technology upgrades to the sanctuary and fellowship hall of the church building. Details regarding the proposed upgrades will be forthcoming and provided via email and/or as a hardcopy packet in each members mailbox. The council will host an informal question and answer time next Sunday July 11th at 12:00pm. The vote will be held the following Sunday, July 18th, at 12:00pm. These upgrades are not part of the campus expansion but will need to be completed prior to any possible campus expansion project.
Why Upgrade: As the council continues conversation around a potential campus expansion project it is clear the planning, fund-raising and physical construction efforts of a major project could likely stretch out for 5 years or more. This means that our current sanctuary and fellowship hall need to be equipped to effectively carry us through those years of ministry. The council has also been approached by the Creative Design team in recent years to consider significant cosmetic and seating upgrades to our sanctuary. There have not been any significant changes to the colors and styles of the walls, flooring or pews in the sanctuary for decades. Great care has been taken to allow these items to serve us well and last well beyond expectations, but they are showing their age in both wear and style. In addition to the look and feel of the space, there is also a desire to upgrade our video and sound quality and room acoustics for the services we present. LED technology allows for more vivid colors and brighter pictures without the need for a video projector. Speaker technology and digital audio control has progressed significantly and we cannot take full advantage of these advancements with our current equipment. These upgrades will also allow us to provide better quality when streaming our worship services online.
Why Now: It is important that any improvements to the existing spaces be completed before any potential major construction would take place. This ensures that the upgrades are kept separate from a campus expansion effort as it relates to planning and approvals. In order for large scale sanctuary improvements to be made now we will need to hold worship services in the fellowship hall for a number of weeks. This means we need to improve the acoustics and speaker quality of that room and provide a way to project songs and graphics in that space. Now is also a good time to consider these upgrades because we are financially healthy, blessed with a full staff and are seeing many new attenders coming through our doors. Our desire is to beautify our sanctuary, maximize our seating capacity while improving comfort and to enhance our technology to better serve our members and attenders and provide a quality of worship that reflects the beauty of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In Him, Chuck Swanson – Council President
